The health of trans women

Illustration of the booklet “The health of trans women: recognizing diversity” published by the Andalusian Institute for Women in collaboration with the Andalusian School of Public Health. The publication is part of a series of booklets for women’s health, each one of them focused on a specific topic.

This booklet deals with the reality of trans women from a perspective of respect and non-discrimination. It begins with an introduction and an explanation of concepts such as gender expression and gender identity. Throughout the text and images, topics such as discrimination, transphobic violence and social inequality are discussed, as well as the protection of trans women’s rights, their physical and mental health and gender diversity in childhood and adolescence.

The images I have created illustrate each of these issues: transphobia, bullying, protection of rights or activism, but always focused on trans women.
